Information about your Distance Contract
In accordance with the EU Directive on Distance Marketing of Consumer Financial Services the following information must be provided to you regarding your Insurance product where there is no face to face contact between you and AIB Bank e.g. by phone, internet or post.
We are Allied Irish Banks, P.L.C, whose principal business is the provision of financial services. Our registered office is at Bankcentre, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. We are registered at the Companies Registration Office, Dublin. Our registered number is 130581.
AIB is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
AIB Insurance Services Limited (AIBIS) is regulated as an Insurance Intermediary for general insurance products.
About our Insurance Products
AIB Home Insurance is exclusively underwritten by AXA Insurance DAC.
AXA Insurance DAC is part of the AXA Group and their head office is located at Wolfe Tone Street, Wolfe Tone Street, Dublin 1. Registration number 136155.
AXA Insurance DAC is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland and authorised and subject to limited regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Your policy provides assistance in the event of certain home emergencies, which impact the safety and security of your home, potentially rendering it uninhabitable. It is not designed to replace your buildings and contents insurance and will not provide assistance for normal day to day home maintenance.
All relevant information in relation to your policy can be found in your policy documentation.
Governing Law and Language
The agreement will be governed by the laws of Ireland and the Courts of Ireland will have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any disputes.
The agreement and all information and communication with you will be in English.
Your Right to Cancel
You have the right to cancel your policy with us within the cooling off period - that is within the first 14 days after receiving the policy documents within the first year of insurance. We will refund your full premium providing no claims have been made on your policy.
If you cancel the policy…
a) You may cancel the policy at any time by giving us written notice. We will refund a percentage of your premium to cover the period of the policy left to run, provided you have made no claim.
If we cancel the policy…
b) We may cancel your policy by sending you ten days’ notice by registered letter to your last known address. We will refund a percentage of your premium depending on the period of the policy left to run, provided you have made no claim.
Failure to disclose all material information may result in:
The voidance or cancellation of a policy;
A claim not being paid or partly paid;
The customer encountering difficulty obtaining insurance elsewhere;
Or in the case of property insurance breaching the terms and conditions of any loan on the property.
What to do if you have a Complaint
We want to ensure that any concerns you may have are dealt with quickly and efficiently. In the event that you wish to make a complaint you may do so by writing to:
