At AIB our purpose is to Empower people to build a sustainable future. We believe that a better future includes everyone, whatever diversity they bring.

What does inclusion and diversity mean at AIB?

Inclusion is about ensuring that: Difference is valued; We all feel a sense of belonging in an enabling environment; and Everyone has a fair opportunity and the supports they need to succeed. At AIB, we call this Universal Inclusion, an environment where everyone can perform to their best and achieve their full potential. We believe this drives innovation and business success. In short, it’s not just the right thing to do, but also the smart thing to do.

Working with AIB

At AIB, inclusion and diversity are core to our values and operations. We recognise that I&D are essential to our business success and our responsibility to the communities we serve. Since 2014, AIB has prioritised I&D, earning Gold Investors in Diversity accreditation from the Irish Centre for Diversity in 2022 and again in 2025, demonstrating our commitment to reflecting societal diversity and fostering universal inclusion.

Our Networks

Inclusion and Diversity are continually evolving and rely on the collective effort of all team members across the group.  Our five employee networks play a critical role in bringing our vision for Inclusion and Diversity to life at AIB:

  • Women’s+ Network

  • Pride+ Network

  • Origins+ Network (Race and Ethnicity)

  • Abilities + Network

  • Life and Family Network

Gender equality at AIB

We continue to build on progress to date and through ongoing engagement we are developing a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to female progression to leadership roles in AIB.

  • AIB partners with organisations like the 30% Club and takes part in initiatives such as Balance for Better Business and the Women in Finance Charter to promote gender diversity.
  • The AIB Women’s+ Inclusion Network, run by employee volunteers, hosts annual events such as International Women’s Day celebrations, Lean In Circles, and the Mentor Her Programme. The Mentor Her Programme, commended at the IBCB ‘Proud to Work in Banking’ Awards, empowers women at AIB to reach their potential, delivering strong outcomes each year.
  • Lean In Circles have also been introduced by AIB Women’s+ Network. These self-led peer support networks have grown quickly and circle themes include mid-level career development, maternity returners, neurodiversity and mid-life navigation (including menopause and perimenopause).
  • AIB leads the market with comprehensive family leave policies supporting colleagues at all life stages. We actively encourage male employees to use family and carer’s leave and share their experiences, ensuring an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive in their careers and communities.
