Kerry footballing legend Colm Cooper was on hand to launch AIB’s sponsorship of DIT’s hurling, camogie, handball and soccer teams at the DIT Grangegorman Campus on Wednesday 10th December. The new kits were unveiled by the players on the new all-weather soccer pitch.

Colm said “there’s a great relationship with DIT and AIB built up and it’s great to be part of the fantastic development. It’s going to continue for a number of years and it’s brilliant to be involved, especially as sport is something that’s close to my own heart”.

He added, “This is my first time here and it looks amazing. I can only imagine how it’s going to look when completely finished. I’d say it will be one of the best campuses in Ireland”.

Speaking on the importance of the AIB kit sponsorship. GAA Development Officer Darragh Biddlecombe said “we have upwards of six hurling teams, two camogie teams and a handball club so there’s nine teams that needed to be kitted out and this sponsor takes care of all that. We are over the moon they’re on board.”

Brendan Hilliard, the student officer for AIB, was also present and was delighted that the bank is sponsoring the college teams. He was “very excited about continuing to work with the college, the students and the sports teams, and getting some AIB sponsorships through for the clubs has been great. It’s a beautiful day to be here as well. I think DIT has been trying to get a campus like Grangegorman for a long time”.
