How to Cancel a Direct Debit with AIB

Direct Debits from AIB are handy payments that you can set up to automatically pay your regular bills such as gas, electricity, your phone or credit card bills. Direct Debits provide you with security against unauthorised transactions on your account and some companies even offer incentives for you to pay by Direct Debit.

Where can I cancel my Direct Debit?
AIB allows you to cancel a Direct Debit:

1. Through AIB Internet Banking

2. Via AIB Phone Banking

3. In any AIB Branch.

Cancelling my Direct Debit on AIB Internet Banking
To cancel a Direct Debit online, first log into AIB Internet Banking. Once you’ve logged in select ‘Transfer & Payments’, then ‘My Direct Debits’ and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please note that while AIB will cancel your Direct Debit, you may need to inform the originating company of this cancellation to make sure it’s cancelled on their end.

Cancelling my Direct Debit on AIB Phone Banking
You can also cancel your Direct Debit through AIB Phone Banking. Simply contact our customer service team on 0818 724 724. If you’re calling from outside Ireland, you can contact us on 00353 1771 24 24.

Cancelling my Direct Debit in a AIB Branch
The third and final way you can cancel a Direct Debit is in any AIB Branch. Call in with suitable photo ID and your account number and AIB will cancel your Direct Debit in person. You will also be required to send a written Direct Debit cancellation request to the originating company.
