AIB is delighted to sponsor College Awareness Week (CAW) taking place from November 21st to November 27th 2016.
College Awareness Week, now in its third year, aims to inspire, encourage and inform students on the importance of having a post-secondary education plan. The campaign places particular emphasis on encouraging students of all ages, and social and economic backgrounds to consider their options and to become ‘college-ready’.
Launched by Minister Richard Bruton with the help of AIB Youth Ambassador Colm Cooper it encourages primary, second level and adult learners to pursue courses best suited to their interests and abilities, whether that be a post leaving certificate qualification, an apprenticeship or a more formal qualification such as a university degree. The campaign’s focus in highlighting the benefits of further education can also help provide a route back to employment for some of Ireland’s long-term unemployed.
College Awareness Week organisers with AIB as a sponsor are eager to play a part in achieving the objective of a 30% increase in participation in higher level education amongst students from schools by 2025, as set out in Department of Education Action Plan for Education, published last month.
Last year over 700 events took place in different locations throughout the country including schools, higher education institutes, community centres and libraries. Organisers expect in excess of 1000 events to take place in 2017.
