Yes. We are now introducing SCA for business debit and corporate credit cards when you shop online. This is to increase the security of your transactions. We are changing our terms and conditions for this and we will notify you of the changes.
Changes to how you use your AIB cards online
We’re making online purchases more secure
We’re adding an extra layer of security known as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). These changes will help fight fraud and make your online transactions more secure.
When using your card to purchase online in the future, we may ask you to authenticate a card transaction. We will write to you as these changes happen.
What do I need to do now?
To help protect your card against unauthorised use, we need to make sure we have the right mobile phone number for you. Your mobile phone number is needed for the SCA solution when it is available.
If you have an AIB Business Debit Card you can update your mobile number by:
Calling us at (01) 2695022
Writing to your local branch
If you have an AIB Corporate, Business or Purchasing Card you can update your mobile number by:
Calling us at (01) 6685500
Writing to us at: AIB Card Issuing, PO Box 708, Dublin 18.
Please let all additional cardholders know they need to do this too.
We will write to you closer to the time to tell you how you can authenticate your card when you use it online.

Can you tell me more about PSD2?
The second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) deals with electronic payments and payment services. It affects the whole banking industry through the introduction of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) and new third party payment service providers known as TPPS. SCA is intended to make payments more secure and TPPs will be able to offer you a range of new payment services.
You can learn more about PSD2 from the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland here.
