Right to Portability


You have the right to request your personal data held by us in a digital and portable format. Your portability request will include your personal information which has been:

  1. Processed automatically

  2. Processed with the your consent

  3. Processed under the performance of a contract

  4. Provided by you (including observed usage of the account)

You can raise a Portability data request by:

  • Completing a Personal Data Request form on internet banking (Internet Banking Home Page > Services & Settings > Personal Data Request)

  • Phoning our Contact Centre on 0818 303 556 (open Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:30) and speaking with an Agent

  • Presenting at any branch and using in-branch phone banking

AIB will contact you to let you know that your request has been completed which will include instructions for collection. If an invalid request is submitted, AIB will contact you to let you know along with instructions of what is required to resolve the issue.

The digital portability file can only be collected at an AIB branch by you or a nominated third party. Prior to collecting the data in branch, you must present a valid form of ID and proof of address. Your file will be held in the branch for 28 days. If it is not collected during this time, the file will be securely destroyed.
