    Getting your credit established early

It’s always handy to have a Credit Card set up for those months where you need to spend a little more than usual, so we want to make sure you have everything in place before you apply.

If you have been abroad and are applying for credit with AIB you will need to submit a Foreign Credit Check (in English).

A Foreign Credit Check is required when a person applying for credit (be it a Mortgage, a loan or a credit card for example) has a bank account outside of Ireland either now or in the past.

Our top tip is to obtain this Foreign Credit Check in English from the financial institutions in which you have held accounts before you move. That way when you get settled, you will have the documentation you need ready for your application.
