Why did I receive an email or letter from AIB about my phone’s software?
You have used the AIB mobile app on iPhone running on iOS version 13 or lower.
How do I check the OS version on my iPhone?
You can check it in the general section in the settings menu of your iPhone.
I’ve checked my OS version, it is running on iOS 14 (or higher)
In that case you don’t need to do anything else.
How else can I bank with AIB?
You can use AIB Online Banking and AIB Phone Banking to make payments.
What steps do I need to take to use Online Banking?
First, you will need to un-enrol from the Mobile App before 25 June. The option to do this can be found in the Security and Access screen in the Settings menu on the mobile app.
You can then enrol for Online Banking by completing the on-screen Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) steps. You can find more information here - PSD2: Strong Customer Authentication, Changes to Online Banking | AIB.
You will also need a Card Reader to complete certain payment types on Online Banking.
How can I approve Online Card transactions if I don’t have the mobile app?
You can use the Password for Online Purchases feature. You’ll find the steps here - Password for Online Purchases (aib.ie).
When do I need to do this?
You will need to do this prior to 25 June 2024.
Why should I keep my OS version up to date?
Device manufacturers regularly update the software and hardware they use. When they do, older operating systems are discontinued, and older software which has become outdated is no longer supported.

By 25 June 2024.
What if I don’t upgrade my phone’s OS?
The AIB mobile app will not work on your phone’s current OS version from 25 June 2024.
What if I can’t upgrade my phone’s OS?
The AIB mobile app will not work on your phone’s current OS version from 25 June 2024. You will need a phone that runs on the min OS version supported by the AIB app.
Why are AIB doing this?
The AIB app is regularly updated to keep it secure and to protect our customers.
