A credit card can be a very useful financial tool, giving you the freedom and peace of mind to do what you need to do. Sometimes things come along that just can’t wait until the end of the month.
The AIB 'be' Credit Card puts you in control and gives you the flexibility to pay for those unexpected purchases. Our ‘be’ Credit Cards also has introductory rates on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months from account opening, to find out more see our Fees and Rates under the Features & Benefits section.
Documents you will need to provide

Pay As You Earn (PAYE) employee
- Your last three months’ bank statements showing your salary
- Your last three months’ worth of payslips will be needed if your salary is mandated to a joint account
- A document to prove your Personal Public Service Number(PPSN) (payslip or letter from the government that shows your PPSN)
- If you already have a credit card with another institution we will also need your last three months credit card statements for that card
- If you’re in employment with your current employer for less than 6 months we will also need copy of a signed contract or letter of employment from your employer confirming your income.

Self Employed
- Your last three months’ bank statements showing your income
- A document to prove your PPSN (payslip or letter from the government that shows your PPSN)
- Your most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) / Balancing Statement (e/online certs) / UK Tax Returns; or
- Accountant’s written confirmation of income; or
- Up to date financial statements/accounts
- If you already have a credit card with another institution we also need your last three months’ credit card statements for that card.

Retired
- Last three months’ bank statements in which your pension(s) is paid
- If you already have a credit card with another institution we also need your last three months credit card statements for that card
- A document to prove your PPSN (payslip or letter from the government that shows your PPSN)
- If you have more than one pension, a document from your pension provider showing how much you get paid each year from these pensions.

Lower Annual Interest Rate of 14.16% (variable) when you spend over €5,000 in a 12-month period
Lower Annual Interest Rate explained:
With the 'be' Visa we reward you with a lower annual interest rate based on how much you spend in a 12 month period.
When you spend €5,000 or more on purchases in a 12 month assessment period, the lower annual interest rate of 14.16% (variable), applies.*
The higher annual interest rate of 16.79% (variable) applies to cardholders with purchases not exceeding €5,000 in a 12 month assessment period.
*Incur any two instances of Late Payment, Returned Payment and Over Limit Fee within a 12-month assessment period and interest will be charged at the higher annual interest rate from the next statement date, regardless of spend. The account spend and penalty fee counters will be reset and a new 12-month assessment period will commence from the next statement date.
Special introductory annual interest rate of 3.83% (variable) on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months from account opening. (Fees, Charges and Important Information)
As a new ‘be’ credit card customer, you will also benefit from an introductory annual interest rate on purchases and balance transfers of 3.83% (variable) for 12 months from the date your credit card account is opened. At the end of those 12 months the annual interest rates revert back to the standard rate applicable at that time. The balance transfer offer applies to balances transferred from store cards or non-AIB cards. The total sum of balance transfers must not exceed €5,000.Annual Percentage Rate (APR) 22.9%(variable)
Representative Example: Assuming a credit limit on your card of €1,500, you used your full limit to make a single card purchase immediately after receiving your card, and you repaid in equal monthly payments over 12 months at an interest rate of 16.79% variable, (Representative 22.9% APR variable), the total amount you will pay back is €1636.50 which includes Government stamp duty charge of €30.00. Interest charged would be €136.50No annual bank fee

Up to 56 days interest free credit
If you clear your balance in full and on time each month, you can avoid paying interest.
Second 'be' Card Free
You can have one additional cardholder added to your AIB Credit Card provided that the cardholder is a family member (defined as parent, spouse, partner, sibling or child over 16 years) who normally resides at your address.

Instant cash
You can use your AIB 'be' Credit Card along with your PIN (Personal Identification Number) to withdraw cash at any ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) or Bank that displays the Visa logo at home and abroad. Annual cash interest rate and fees and charges apply, please view the Important Information for fees and charges.
Emergency Cash Service
In emergency situations, if your credit card is lost or stolen when abroad, we can, on approval, provide you with emergency Cash up to US$5,000.00 (subject to available credit, Cash Advance and Currency Conversion fees and charges may apply). The emergency cash is normally available within 48 hours in most countries. In order to claim emergency cash you will be required to present your passport as proof of identity at a Western Union outlet near your location, as advised by our customer service staff. Find out what documentation you will need to provide to verify your identity
To comply with legislation to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, we will need to see suitable documentation to verify both your identity and your current permanent address.What you need:
Proof of Identity: a valid Passport, Driver’s Licence, EU National Identity Card
Proof of Current Permanent Address (documents must be no more than 6 months old): Utility Bill, Correspondence from a regulated financial institution (insurance/assurance company, bank, credit card company or investment company), correspondence from a government department/body.
We will require a certified copy of your Proof of Identity and two certified copies of your proof of address. Your documents can be certified by a practicing solicitor, Garda or certified at your local AIB Branch.
Note: The name on your photographic identification must exactly match the name on your proof of address. Please talk to one of our staff at your local AIB Branch if you don’t have the documentation outlined above.

You may need documentation showing your PPSN/Tax Registration Number(TRN)
We are required by law to collect and verify your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) or Tax Reference Number (TRN). This is required by the Central Bank of Ireland’s Central Credit Register for customer identification.In order to verify your PPSN/TRN you may need to provide us with an original or electronic version (for example, a PDF or photo) of a document showing your PPSN/TRN and full name.
