In order to comply with legislation to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, we’ll need to verify both your identity and your current permanent address when you are opening a bank account.

Required Documentation:

1 Students Aged 12-16 Years:   

• (a) Parental Consent: Student obtains account opening form from the school bank, takes home and captures parental consent
• (b) Proof of ID: Valid Passport or Driver's License or EU National Identity Card
• (c) Proof of Address: Letter of Introduction from the school

2 Students Aged 16+ Years: 

• (a) Proof of ID: Valid Passport or Driver's License or EU National Identity Card
• (b) Proof of Address: Letter of Introduction from the school
  

The Account Opening Process:

1 Students Aged 12-16 Years:

• (a) Student obtains an account opening form from the school bank, takes it home & captures parent consent
  
• (b) Student returns the completed form to the student officer the following week when the school bank reopens
  
• (c) Student uploads a picture of the ‘Proof of Identity’ to aib.ie/personal-forms/build-a-bank which is received into the relevant branch mailbox
  
• (d) Student officer then matches up the ‘Proof of Identity’ which is sent to the branch mailbox with the completed account opening form and ‘Proof of Address’ and completes account opening as per existing branch process
  
• (e) Alternatively the student can provide a copy of their ‘Proof of Identity’ with their account opening form when they are returning it to the Student Officer
  

2 Students Aged 16+ Years:

• (a) Student completes the account opening form and returns it to the Student Officer
  
• (b) Student uploads a picture of their ‘Proof of Identity’ to aib.ie/personal-forms/build-a-bank which is received into the relevant branch mailbox
  
• (c) Student Officer then matches up the ‘Proof of Identity’ with the completed account opening form and ‘Proof of Address’ and completes the account opening as per branch process

The information you provide as part of the AIB Build a Bank Challenge will be used by AIB Group to verify your identify in line with our regulatory obligations. The information provided will be used for the purpose of verifying your identification and for administrating the Build a Bank Challenge and any accounts you may open with AIB either now or in the future.
