Right to Restriction of Processing

You can request restriction of the processing of your personal information where one or more of the following apply:

  • the information we hold is inaccurate (if you would like to correct any of your personal details, please call us on 0818 724 724 or drop into any branch);

  • we are processing your information unlawfully;

  • we no longer require your personal information however you want us to retain your information for use in a legal claim;

  • you have objected to the processing of your personal information based on our legitimate interests and want processing restricted while we consider whether we have overriding grounds to continue processing.

If you wish to request a restriction of the processing of your personal information based on the above criteria, you should complete a Right to Restrict Request Form, available to download below. Please complete the form, ensuring all mandatory (marked with an asterisk*) fields are filled, and bring it to any AIB branch with a valid form of ID.

In the event that you are unable to present the form in person, the completed form can be posted to any AIB branch along with a certified copy of photo ID and certified copies of 2 proof of addresses from independent sources. Your photocopies can be certified by a member of An Garda Síochána at your local Garda station, by a solicitor, an accountant, public notary or at your local bank branch.
