Customer Service Message Regarding COVID-19

The COVID-19 situation is constantly changing and evolving. We are continuing to introduce necessary measures to protect our customers and staff.


Car Insurance Refund

As part of an Irish motor insurance initiative coordinated by Insurance Ireland, AIB is happy to confirm we will be issuing a once-off payment of €30 to all of our motor insurance customers in the Republic of Ireland. The payment will be issued to all Private Car customers in recognition of the reduction in the level of motor claims experienced as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

You do not need to do anything to receive this payment. If you pay by direct debit, we will transfer the payment directly to your bank account. If you paid in full, we will issue a cheque to the last address we have on file for you.

We will start to issue payments from June 15th. Please bear with us, processing this volume of payments may take up to 2 weeks to complete.


This payment does not have any impact on your policy cover, or terms and conditions.

We recognise this is a challenging time for everyone. We are actively working on solutions for our car and home insurance customers who have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are worried about your insurance payments, we have set up a specialist team who will deal with customers on a case by case basis, as their premiums fall due. The solutions we can explore with you include restructuring payment plans and suspension of cover.


We appreciate that some customers may be unable to get in touch with us and we would like to reassure you that should this happen before your renewal date, we are happy to allow you up to 28 days after renewal date to arrange a payment.
