Data concerning health is viewed as special category personal data under data protection law.  We will only use this data with your consent, and solely for the purposes of this pilot, to ensure that the app is tested across a diverse range of users.

Data Protection Notice

We will use the information you provide to us to facilitate your participation in the pilot testing of the new AIB Mobile App. This includes using your information to: 

  • enable your participation in the pilot, 
  • ensure that the app is tested across a diverse range of users, devices, and geographical regions,
  • monitor usage, feedback, and technical performance; and 
  • support improvements to the app before wider release. 

Personal data processed during the pilot in connection with our banking services (for example, making transactions and payments) will be handled and retained in accordance with our customer Data Protection Notice. 

Our customer Data Protection Notice also contains information on how we process your personal data, your rights in relation to your personal data and how to contact our Data Protection Officer. It is available on our website's data protection page and in our branches.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing M4Pilot@aib.ie. If you withdraw your consent, this will not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before your consent was withdrawn. We will however continue to retain the information, for internal audit purposes, for 7 years after the customer upgrade rollout commences.
