Information for credit card customers who have the Classic Visa Card, the AIB Visa Card or the Standard Visa Card*
From April 2025, the Annual Purchase Interest Rate (variable) will be reduced to 14.16% for customers who hold the Classic Visa Card, the AIB Visa Card and the Standard Visa Card* and where their current Annual Purchase Interest Rate (variable) is 18.24%.
Customers who have these cards and are affected by this rate change will receive a detailed communication by the end of February 2025.

The Representative APR helps you to quickly compare different products offered by your lender and other lenders, using an assumed credit card usage and credit limit for illustrative purposes.
The Representative APR assumes that you make purchases to the full extent of a €1,500 credit limit (inclusive of Government Stamp Duty charge of €30), and you repay in 12 equal monthly repayments and interest rates remain the same.
Lending criteria, terms and conditions apply. Credit facilities are subject to repayment capacity and financial status and are not available to persons under 18 years of age. Government stamp duty, currently €30, is charged annually per credit card account.

Why are you making this change?
Following a review of our credit cards, we have decided to reduce the annual purchase interest rate for our credit cards with the highest annual purchase interest rate (variable).

What if I want to swap my card to another card?

If I swap to another AIB card what happens next?
- Within 10 working days of the swap, you will receive a new credit card with a new card number.
- Your 4-digit PIN will stay the same.
- We will arrange for your existing credit card account to be closed and we will transfer any balance (credit or debit) to your new credit card account.
- You can continue to use your existing card until you receive your new card.
- To continue using contactless payments on your mobile device, you will need to add your new card to your digital wallet.
- If you have regular payments set up or have your card details saved for future purchases, you will need to update your card details with those merchants.

What do I do if I no longer want my card?
If you would like to close your card, you need to repay your total balance and then request your card to be closed by contacting us on 01-6685500 or + 353 1 6685500 if calling from outside of Ireland, our lines are open 9:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).If you would like to swap to another AIB credit card, please visit our website card swap.
