AIB participated in an industry-wide review of sales of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) policies completed between 1st July 2007 and 30th June 2012. The purpose of the review was to ensure that all sales of PPI during this time were conducted in accordance with the Consumer Protection Code 2006.
All customers under the scope of this review were sent a letter to advise them of the outcome. Where it was found that the sale of the policy had not been conducted fully in accordance with the Consumer Protection Code 2006, customers were refunded and compensated appropriately.
We want to assure you that this review was thorough and transparent. AIB engaged an independent 3rd party to oversee this review and The Central Bank of Ireland monitored progress on an ongoing basis.
